Why The Simpsons?

I've chosen to host a regular TV night to watch and discuss two themed episodes of The Simpsons.

The Simpsons is in its 26th season, but the episodes that fans rave about are well in the past. Fans debate the exact "Golden Age" of The Simpsons, but the consensus seems to mark its length at about 7 contiguous seasons--leaving 19 seasons of rubbish to wade through if you decide to tackle the show without guidance.

With that guidance, the show is a delight. The show embodied and influenced the social attitudes, showcased then-current events and technology, and made America chuckle consistently during the 1990s.

The TV night is a chance for us to share, relive, or freshly encounter this cultural touchstone. I love the show, and I can't wait to start.
